As reported by the Guardian, UK citizen James Howell is on the hunt for an elusive hard wallet USB drive that contains what he maintains is close to $80M USD in bitcoin.
Turns out James took his hand at bitcoin mining in 2009, but shut the thing down when it annoyed his girlfriend, and then in some home moving snafu the USB drive that had all the bitcoin on it was accidentally throw out into a local landfill.
Now he wants to mount a treasure hunt to dig up the landfill in the hunt for his lost loot.
Moral of the story: ALWAYS KEEP YOUR HARD WALLET IN A SAFE, AND MAKE SURE TO KEEP YOUR SEED SO YOU CAN RECOVER IT IF THE HARD WALLET IS STOLEN OR LOST.
